Variety of rutilated quartz rarely forming a six rays star; quite often the centre is a hematite crystal.

The rarity in these gems is to find a clean star, centered, without any fractures or rutile needles that might over clouds the stone.

Lately in these years the prices increased a lot, especially for the top grade material. I believe it will keep increasing in the future. Only source is Bahia state, Brazil.
